Arnhem will have approximately 150 new charging stations starting in 2023. The new Arnhem neighborhoods of Schuytgraaf, Stadhouderskwartier, and Blauwe Golven will have standard charging stations for electric cars integrated into lampposts. The tender for the construction of the approximately 150 charging stations is made possible in part by a consortium of Dutch Charge, namely Heijmans Emobility. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Clean energy for clean traffic<\/strong><\/h3>

Alderman for sustainable mobility Nermina Kundi\u0107 says the following about this great step for a cleaner future: ‘This step fits perfectly with our ambition for more clean and quiet transport in Arnhem. More and more residents are opting for emission-free transport. It is up to us to ensure that they can charge their electric car in sufficient places. Due to the combination of charging point and street lamp, it also results in less street furniture. In addition, the power for the charging stations is ‘dark green’: it comes from the solar park along the Pleyroute.’<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1 in 5 is electric<\/strong><\/h3>

The number of electric cars has increased significantly in recent years. In the first half of 2022, 1 in 5 new cars sold was already electric. That is double the number from the previous year. This results in an ever-increasing demand for charging points. A few years ago, 22 of the charging lamp posts were installed in the Ecowijk De Kiem. There, use grew from 160 to 1,660 per year in one year. The municipality of Arnhem has chosen to include charging points in the design of new-build neighbourhoods. As a result, integration into the power grid has already been included in the design. This ensures that no problems will arise in the power grid and that there will be no disruption to public space. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

600 charging points in Arnhem<\/strong><\/h3>

The parking spaces at the charging points are not reserved for electric cars, because there is always a parking space available near a charging point. This ensures less irritation about the available parking spaces. The tender involves 150 lampposts with 300 charging points. In addition, 1,200 homes will be built in the coming years. Such a new district is then prepared for the increase in electric cars. Later, more lampposts with charging points will follow in the new-build districts, but also in existing districts. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

‘This kind of multifunctional charging solution is the future’, says Michel Versteeg, CEO of Dutch Charge, on behalf of the consortium. ‘This combination of lamppost and charging point makes optimal use of the public space, without causing clutter. We supply both the combined lamppost with charging point and the service for the next 10 years of charging itself.’ <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
