What can CityCharge do for your project?

Contracting authorities

At CityCharge we strongly believe in collaboration and partnership. Our primary focus is on forming a three-way partnership with municipalities and charge point operators. In addition, we aim to work with all stakeholders to develop an infrastructure that enables electric driving and seamless charging. We are an example of how the transition to sustainable mobility can be accelerated, while improving public space and air quality.

Not a charging station, but a charging point

CityCharge offers an innovative solution specifically for (residential) construction projects. Instead of installing additional charging stations, we can integrate charging points directly into the light poles. This not only results in a tidier streetscape, but also makes more efficient use of the available space. In this way, project developers can meet the growing demand for charging options for electric vehicles, without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.

Request a concession

In many provincial and regional EV tenders, only 1 type of EV charging object is currently requested, namely the regular charging station (with its own 3×35 Amp grid connection) as we have known it for many years. However, both underground and above-ground space in urban areas is limited. That is why it is necessary to look at alternative forms of EV charging locations and rollout plans. EV charging can be facilitated from multiple objects, such as VRIs, parking meters, underground, but also from light poles.

Increase rollout speed

Research shows that of the 3.5 million lampposts in the Netherlands, on average 15% are in the right location, namely between two parking spaces in urban areas where public charging pressure is highest (60% of residents do not have their own driveway with EV charging facility). In order to support the growing number of electric vehicles on Dutch roads, the roll-out speed of EV charging points must be significantly increased. In EV tenders, the emphasis should be on:

  1. What is the (aesthetic) impact of the EV charging solution in public spaces and does it contribute to combating clutter?
  2. What CO₂ reduction does the EV charging solution achieve?
  3. What benefits does the EV charging solution offer to accelerate the rollout?
  4. Is it possible to combine multiple EV charging solutions on one grid connection (such as an EV charging street or EV charging square)?
More freedom of choice

Including the above four questions in EV tenders will lead to a more nuanced offer from market parties with regard to EV solution directions. This results in more freedom of choice in provincial and regional concessions to give participating municipalities more freedom in their EV rollout strategies.
